City House in Voula, Athens

Supervision, Construction

2009,2022-2024

This project is about a four-storey detached city house with underground utility spaces, an outdoor swimming pool and a large terrace, designed by the renowned architecture firm of Nikos Valsamakis & Maria Serdari with whom we collaborated closely in order for the final built result to reflect their initial design and vision.

The public spaces of the residence are developed on the ground floor, with the 20-meter uninterrupted glass facade orientated towards the swimming pool being the prominent element of the design. The first floor encloses four bedrooms, a seconday living room, wardrobes and restrooms. A smaller auxiliary space is situated on the flat roof as well as a concrete pergola, identical to the one surrounding the pool on the ground floor. The basement contains a parking space, auxiliary spaces and a guestroom which opens up to a recessed patio on the northern side of the plot.

Our firm undertook part of the construction (excavation, reinforced concrete phase, brickworks, etc.) as well as the general supervision of the individual crews that joined in, until the completion of the project.

Apart from coordinating the different building phases in order for the construction process to flow smoothly and for the project to be delivered on time, we were faced with challenges like designing construction details, choosing suitable materials and textures and figuring out how they would come together, matters that in a demanding project like this are of paramount importance for the result to be aesthetically and technically pleasing.
